Kern County Supervisors Approve Airport Commerce Center Industrial Land-Use Plan in Oildale

OILDALE, Calif. — Kern County supervisors have approved land-use entitlements for the Airport Commerce Center Industrial Project, a significant proposed development in northwest Oildale near the Meadows Field airport area.

During the October 13, 2026 board meeting, supervisors approved land-use actions necessary for a project described in county records as approximately 1,505,440 square feet of industrial warehouse space and two associated quick-service restaurants. The application covers about 110 acres across six parcels on the north side of Merle Haggard Drive and west of Airport Drive.

What approval means

The Kern County agenda materials and the county meeting recap record the government’s decision. Land-use entitlements are a necessary regulatory step, but they do not mean construction is finished, that a company has moved in or that every promised job exists.

Location and neighborhood concerns

The development would bring large buildings and potential industrial operations near residential neighborhoods and airport-related traffic. Issues raised during environmental review included the routing of heavy-duty trucks, air emissions, nearby homes and consistency with county land-use regulations.

The final conditions of approval and applicable environmental mitigation measures will determine which rules bind future operations. Residents should review the adopted documents rather than rely on promotional job estimates.
